Oil tanker fire in Lurgan closes roads near hospital
A fire involving an oil tanker broke out in Lurgan on Friday afternoon, prompting road closures and diversions in the area around Lurgan Hospital.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted at 11:43am to reports of an oil tank on fire at Mourneview Avenue.
Three fire appliances, from Lurgan, Banbridge, and Portadown fire stations, attended the scene.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland asked road users and members of the public to avoid the Mourneview Avenue area, and diversions were put in place.
Sinn Féin Councillor Mary O’Dowd urged people to stay away from the Tandragee Road and allow the fire service space to deal with the incident.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, according to the fire service.
