Enler Boxing Club celebrated a successful first appearance at the County Antrim 3s Championships, returning from Brook Leisure Centre in Belfast with three medals.

The Comber-based club entered three fighters in the competition for boxers with up to three bouts: Jake Watson, Jaxon McDowell and Luca Gamble.

Watson, aged 13, competed for the first time and took silver after losing a straight final to Bangor Abbey's Alfie Dundon.

McDowell, 15, stopped Castle Boxing Club's Dylan Perry in a semi-final before losing a close decider to Ledley Hall's Mason Lunn, adding a second silver.

Gamble, also 15, made his competitive debut and claimed gold with a second-round stoppage of Oliver Plunkett's Chris Cairns.

Head coach Jonny Hunter said the results were a good start for the club in its first County Antrim Board entry, noting the dedication of the fighters who train four or five nights a week.

Hunter highlighted Gamble's commitment, stating the teenager gave up rugby and a place on the Ulster development panel to focus on boxing.

The three boxers are now set to target the Antrim 6s, with Hunter hoping for more entrants from the club and expecting strong performances.
