Sinn Féin councillor Christopher Jackson has condemned recent disorder in Derry, stating that actions by a small minority on Sunday evening are wrong and should stop.

Jackson said the actions of this group, which included bringing petrol bombs onto the streets, do not reflect the views of the vast majority of the local community.

He warned that some individuals are attempting to drag communities back and that young people should not be used as pawns by drug dealers and criminals seeking legitimacy.

Jackson called for an immediate end to the disgraceful behaviour, which he said serves no purpose other than to stoke tensions.
