A Sinn Féin councillor has called for a united community response to cross-border crime gangs operating in south Armagh. Declan Murphy, Slieve Gullion councillor, said the overwhelming majority of people reject criminality and urged anyone with information to contact police.

He spoke after what he characterised as further serious criminal incidents by a well-known gang. Murphy said such activity brings devastation to families and businesses, creating fear and damaging public confidence.

He listed intimidation, dangerous driving, vandalism, arson, and attacks on property and individuals as undermining community safety. The councillor said tackling organised crime requires properly resourced policing, and the PSNI must secure resources to close the gangs down.

Murphy stressed that local people stand together against violence and lawlessness. He encouraged vigilance and called on the community to assist the PSNI.
