Police appeal after deliberate Ballymena outhouse fire caused evacuations
Police in Ballymena are appealing for information after a fire at a derelict property on Monday afternoon led to evacuations and a road closure.
The blaze broke out in an outhouse on the Larne Road area at approximately 2:20pm on Monday 28 September. Police are treating the incident as deliberate ignition.
Sergeant McDowell said officers responded to a report of the fire and found the inside of the outhouse destroyed. Smoke and water damage was also caused to neighbouring outhouses.
No injuries were reported. The property was derelict.
A number of residents in the area were evacuated while Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service crews dealt with the blaze. Larne Street was closed for a period.
Police said enquiries were continuing on Tuesday morning.
