Police are investigating an incident at a school in Dungannon after an altercation between two pupils and a separate report of masked youths outside the premises.

The altercation, involving two male pupils, was reported at a school in the Carland Road area on Wednesday afternoon. No serious injuries were reported. A Youth Diversion Officer has been informed and police continue to engage with the school and those involved.

Later that afternoon, a number of youths with their faces covered were observed outside the school. No weapons were seen and no injuries were reported.

Ulster Unionist councillor Ian Irwin said police told him a group of about eight males gathered outside Drumglass High School at home time on Thursday. Some wore face coverings and carried bags. He said they were waiting for a local pupil.

School staff escorted the pupil onto a bus. The group then reportedly attempted to prevent the bus from leaving. The bus managed to leave and teachers escorted the males away from the school premises.

Police said CCTV footage will be reviewed to identify those involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1028 24/09/26.
