Foyle Foods has received planning approval for a range of improvements at its food processing facility on Doogary Road in Omagh. The decision was made by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's planning committee last month and has now been formally ratified.

The approved works include additional chill storage and dispatch bays, a new workshop and plant room, relocation of the existing lorry parking area, and a new entrance to the staff car park. The company, which has operated in Omagh for more than 50 years, said the proposals are designed to meet its operational requirements while improving functionality and safety.

The site is used for food processing and as an abattoir, and currently has 54 employee parking spaces. Under the plans, the staff car park will be moved to a location beside the access to the main building, which the company described as more sensible. The relocation is expected to create additional space for lorry parking.

Planning documents noted that trailers are currently stored at several locations along shared movement routes within the factory. The company said the changes will address safety concerns arising from these arrangements and create a more efficient layout. It described the development as an expansion of an established industrial use rather than a new use.
