A total of 37 new Police Service of Northern Ireland officers were attested at a recent ceremony at the PSNI Police College in Garnerville, Belfast. The officers had completed a 22-week training programme at the college.

They paraded in front of their friends, family and colleagues during the event. The group was described as diverse.

The attestation ceremony included the words "upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all individuals and their traditions and beliefs".

The Most Rev John McDowell, Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, attended the ceremony as a guest. He wished the new officers every best wish as they head to their designated PSNI stations.

The PSNI has been working to ensure its membership reflects the makeup of society in Northern Ireland.
