Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras are now in operation at the drop-off areas of Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex and South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen. The cameras began monitoring vehicles from Monday.

The system enforces a 30-minute maximum stay in these drop-off zones. Previously, parking staff monitored the areas and issued Parking Charge Notices to vehicles that overstayed. Under the new system, any Parking Charge Notice will be sent by post to the registered keeper of the vehicle.

There will be a two-week warning period after the cameras were switched on. During this period, drivers who exceed the time limit will receive a warning letter instead of a parking charge. After the warning period ends, Parking Charge Notices may be issued for overstaying vehicles.

The Western Health and Social Care Trust stated that the system is intended to help keep drop-off spaces available for patients and visitors and to improve access to hospital entrances.

Motorists using the designated areas are urged to check the signs and ensure they leave within the 30-minute limit.
