Restricted driver disqualified after being caught at 82mph on A6
A restricted driver caught at 82mph on the Foreglen Road on the A6 has been disqualified from driving for three months and fined £250.
Conall Harkin, of Spoutfields, Coleraine, was detected driving at that speed on August 3. As a restricted driver, he was required to stay below 45mph.
At Derry Magistrate's Court on Monday, defence solicitor Keith Kyle acknowledged the speed was high and said Harkin had no real explanation.
District Judge Suzanne Rice said she could not ignore such a high speed. She told Harkin that excessive speed kills and that she wanted to send a strong lesson to restricted drivers.
Harkin was disqualified for three months and fined £250.
