Terry McGonigle died on Friday following a short illness. His Requiem Mass took place on Sunday at St Columba's Church in Doneyloop, drawing mourners from Clady and Strabane.

Fr Ciaran Hegarty celebrated the Mass and said Mr McGonigle's life centred on his wife Brenda and their sons, Finn and Danny. He described him as a devoted family man who dedicated himself to them.

Fr Hegarty noted that Mr McGonigle should have had many more years ahead of him and said the number of tears at the wake showed how much people loved him.

Among his interests, Fr Hegarty listed spending time with family and friends, dance music, helping on his wife's family farm in Draperstown and deer stalking at Baronscourt.

Barry Lafferty, secretary of the Clady Cross Community and Development Association, expressed shock and conveyed condolences on behalf of the group. He noted that the loss was especially poignant for the family as Mr McGonigle's brother Ryan had been killed in a car crash several years earlier.

Ivan Barr of Melmount Community Forum said Mr McGonigle was a gentleman who was jolly, considerate and kind-hearted. He added that Strabane and Clady had lost a unique individual.

Mr McGonigle is survived by his wife Brenda and their sons.
