Strabane man sent for trial on child sex communication charges
A 48-year-old Strabane man has been remanded in custody after appearing at Strabane Magistrates Court via video link from Maghaberry Prison, accused of child sex offences.
John Michael Timoney, of Innisfree Gardens, Strabane, faces two counts of attempting to sexually communicate with a child and a single charge of contacting a child under the age of 13 with the intention of engaging in sexual activity. The charges relate to an alleged incident on 11 October 2025.
During a preliminary enquiry, Timoney confirmed he understood the charges. A representative of the Public Prosecution Service told the court there was a case to answer, a submission that District Judge Barney McElholm accepted. Timoney did not provide any written or oral evidence at this stage.
He was remanded to appear before Dungannon Crown Court on 5 November for arraignment.
