The Galgorm roundabout, connecting Ballymena and Galgorm, has been re-landscaped with 865 roses, 800 box hedges and 50 multi-stemmed silver birches, completing a £150,000 project by the Galgorm Collection.

Work began in 2025 when £100,000 was spent restoring the roundabout's structure, including its stone wall, alongside initial tree planting. A further £50,000 has been invested this year in the new planting. The silver birches will later be underplanted with daffodils, expected to flower next spring.

Stephen Mackle, head of grounds at Galgorm Resort, led the transformation. He stated that the roses and box hedging were chosen for structure and long-season colour, while the silver birches would add height and movement as they mature. He added that the daffodils would provide a fresh display each spring.

Galgorm Collection CEO Colin Johnston said the roundabout's prominence and the group's links to the village drove the decision. Many of the group's employees live in the village, which he said made the project feel personal. He noted the company's wider community activity, which includes partnerships with local schools and sponsorship of Cullybackey Blues FC, Netball NI and the Antrim Camogie Minor squad. Galgorm Collection employs more than 1,400 people across its hotels, restaurants and golf experiences.

The completion of the landscaping comes shortly before the NI Legends golf tournament returns to Galgorm from 4 to 6 September. Entry is free for spectators.

The roundabout's appearance will continue to develop as the newly planted trees mature and the daffodils flower next spring.
