Fermanagh songwriter's waltz reaches Rose of Tralee audience
A Garrison songwriter has had a song featured during a major Irish television broadcast. John Farry's composition 'Waltz of Life' was performed by Donegal singer David James on RTÉ One as part of the Rose of Tralee.
Farry and James have worked together since last year. Before that, Farry spent a decade managing country singer Nathan Carter. 'Waltz of Life' was originally written for Farry's daughter's wedding, and James later recorded it. The two have also released another song, 'The Girl From Connemara'.
This is not the first time Farry's songwriting has reached a wide Irish audience. He wrote 'Mysterious Woman', the Irish entry for the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest, performed by Marc Roberts. Farry has also encouraged younger musicians to develop their songwriting, saying that audiences now expect new original material alongside established favourites.
