A memorial football match for Jody Gormley will take place on Sunday 27 September at Cherryvale Playing Fields in Belfast. The 12.30pm throw-in will see the 2006 Bredagh side that won the Down Junior Championship face a selection of former Trillick players and other participants.

All proceeds from the event will go to Northern Ireland Hospice and Marie Curie. Refreshments will be served afterwards at The Parador bar. Former Trillick players interested in taking part are asked to contact James on 07498 376717.

Gormley died in December 2024, three months after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis. He broke the news to the Trillick senior panel on the evening of 25 October 2024, following the club's defeat in the Tyrone Senior Football Championship final.

During his playing career Gormley won back-to-back Ulster titles with Tyrone in 1995 and 1996 and lined out at midfield in the 1995 All-Ireland final against Dublin. He later managed Trillick to the 2023 Tyrone Senior Football title.

His coaching record also included guiding Abbey CBS in Newry to a MacRory Cup and Hogan Cup double in 2006. At intercounty level he managed Antrim to a Tommy Murphy Cup title in 2008 and served as a Down coach under Paddy O'Rourke in 2006.

Shortly after his diagnosis Gormley told the BBC's GAA Social Podcast that he had no fear of dying and felt blessed throughout his life.
