A Plumbridge woman has been named a finalist in the BBC Make a Difference Great Neighbour Award after more than 25 years of community service in the Glenelly area.

Anne Bradley founded the Plum Club in 2000 to give older residents in Plumbridge, Cranagh and the wider Glenelly community a place to meet and stay connected. The initiative later grew into a community hub, and Bradley played a key role in securing permanent premises for the club in 2016.

She continued to support club members during the Covid-19 pandemic to help maintain social connections. Bradley is also a trustee of the Glenelly Development Trust and has supported numerous community fundraising and charitable initiatives over the years.

Pauline O’Neill, Age Friendly Coordinator at Derry City and Strabane District Council, said Bradley’s kindness and commitment have ensured nobody feels alone. O’Neill congratulated Bradley on behalf of the council and wished her success at the awards ceremony in September.
