Man remanded in custody over sexual assault charge in Craigavon
A man has appeared in court in Craigavon charged with sexually assaulting another man earlier this month. Khalid Raimi, who has no fixed address, was brought before Craigavon Magistrates Court on the single charge.
The alleged offence occurred on August 3. The charge was put to the defendant with the assistance of an Arabic interpreter, and he indicated that he understood it.
A police officer told the court she was aware of the facts and circumstances and believed she could connect Mr Raimi to the charge. Defence solicitor Philip Reid did not contest that connection.
Mr Reid said his client was unable to apply for bail because he lacked a fixed address. He explained that Mr Raimi had been visiting Northern Ireland with a friend and had previously lived in England. The solicitor also noted that there were strong police objections to bail.
He was remanded into custody and the case was adjourned until August 14.
