A new shared footway and cycleway is being built on the B158 Stiles Way in Antrim at a cost of £550,000. Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins confirmed that work began on 10 August 2026.

The route extends approximately 480 metres from the Stiles Way Roundabout on the A26 Ballymena Road, passing beneath the railway bridge and rising via a ramp to the Springfarm Footbridge.

A toucan crossing will be installed on the eastern side of the roundabout, and the path will link to a second toucan crossing on the southern side at the Ballymena Road entrance. The aim is to create a continuous and safer link for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Minister stated that the project reflects her commitment to expanding active travel opportunities. She also asked residents and road users to comply with temporary traffic restrictions while the work is carried out.

Temporary traffic management will be in place on the B158 for 18 weeks. The Department for Infrastructure warned that some delays are likely and advised drivers to allow extra time when travelling through the area.

The schedule depends on favourable weather, and all works will follow current health and safety requirements.
