Police Appeal After Bellaghy Burglary and Car Theft
Police are investigating a burglary in Bellaghy, County Londonderry, during which a car was stolen and later found crashed overnight.
Shortly before 2am on Sunday 9 August 2026, officers were alerted to a vehicle being driven dangerously on the Mullaghboy Road. The car left the road and collided with a field before the driver fled the scene at speed.
Subsequent enquiries revealed the vehicle had been taken from outside a nearby home. An intruder had entered the property and made off with the keys.
At approximately 2.40am, the damaged car was discovered abandoned near the intersection of Old Tyanee Road and Glenone Road. No one was present at the location.
Detectives have appealed for anyone who was in the area around the time of the incidents to come forward. They are particularly interested in dash-cam, CCTV or other footage. Information can be submitted via the online witness appeal form, quoting reference 213 09/08/26.
