Police seized a car in the Omagh area on Friday evening after stopping a driver who was using false registration plates to hide the vehicle’s true identity.

The stop was carried out by Roads Policing units from Omagh and Enniskillen as part of Operation Lifesaver, an ongoing campaign focused on reducing risk on local roads and targeting dangerous driving behaviours.

Officers discovered that the motorist had been disqualified from driving only two days earlier. The driver also had no insurance, and the vehicle had been declared SORN — meaning it should not have been on the road at all. Further checks showed its MOT had been expired since June 2025.

The vehicle was seized at the scene. Police stated that the driver will now have to appear in court again to explain his actions.
