Police in Omagh have seized a heavy goods vehicle after it was found being operated with a dangerous load and in a dangerous mechanical condition.

The vehicle was spotted by the Enniskillen and Omagh Road Policing Interceptors unit. A subsequent inspection confirmed it was unsafe for the road.

The HGV has been taken away for a full examination, which will be carried out alongside colleagues from the Driver and Vehicle Agency.

Police said several other offences were also detected during the stop. They stressed that there is no excuse for operating unsafe vehicles and warned that compliance with road safety laws is not optional.
