Clogher Valley Show Returns for 106th Edition on 29 July
The 106th Clogher Valley Show is scheduled for Wednesday 29 July at the Augher Showgrounds in County Tyrone.
The show will span more than 60 acres and will host 21 Clogher Valley Championships along with 20 Irish Shows Championships. Livestock exhibitors from across Ireland are expected to attend.
Two new perpetual cups have been introduced this year. The Willis family has donated a cup in memory of Mrs Bertha Willis, who served as show secretary from 1980 to 1998. This award will go to the overall winner in the School Children’s Foundation Classes for Primary 1 and Primary 2 pupils. A second cup, presented by Mid Ulster Councillor and former council chairman Frances Burton, will be awarded to the Champion Cradle Starter Stakes Pony in the equestrian section.
The Clogher Valley Agricultural Society is also offering a bursary in memory of its late president, Captain Robert Lowry. This year’s recipient is Andrew Browne, a student on the Foundation Degree in Agriculture and Technology course at CAFRE Greenmount. He assists with stewarding in the Aberdeen Angus cattle section and has exhibited Hereford calves. The bursary will be formally awarded at a post-show committee meeting in September.
The show’s Food Hall, sponsored by Tirlan and DAERA, will be officially opened ahead of the event by Fane Valley Ltd Chief Executive Trevor Lockhard. Cookery demonstrations will be led by chef Adrian.
The nominated charity for this year is the Children’s Heartbeat Trust. Donations from exhibitors in the vintage section will be directed to the charity.
