Judge warns Derry man bail chances slim if conditions breached again
A 29-year-old man has been warned by a Derry judge that his chances of future bail are slim if he breaches conditions again. Kieran Flannigan, of Abercorn Road in Derry, appeared at the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after being arrested for allegedly breaking bail terms linked to earlier assault and harassment charges.
Police told the court that Flannigan had sent messages to the alleged injured party via social media, in breach of a condition that prohibited any contact. He was already on bail for those offences when the incident occurred.
Deputy District Judge Philip Mateer agreed to grant bail again but imposed strict conditions. Flannigan must have no contact with the alleged injured party, reside at an address approved by police, refrain from posting on any social media platforms, possess only one mobile phone and allow police access to it.
Mateer cautioned that any further violation would likely lead to a refusal of future bail. Flannigan is next due in court on 27 July.
