Derry Man Denied Bail After Charges of Breaching Restraining Order
A 47-year-old man from Belvedere Park in Derry faces charges of breaching a restraining order and stalking his former partner. Daryl O'Donnell appeared in court after police alleged he tried to contact her through social media last November.
Police opposed bail, stating O'Donnell committed offences against the same woman every month for over a year, beginning in January of the previous year. The court refused bail on those grounds.
Defence barrister Michael Donaghey noted O'Donnell's prior court appearances, including four pending cases related to the same woman at his last hearing. Three of those cases have since been resolved.
Donaghey told the court the incidents involved alcohol and social media use. He added that O'Donnell has abstained from drinking for months and removed his social media accounts.
O'Donnell will appear in court again on May 7.
