Emergency services are at the scene of an explosion in Belfast city centre. The incident occurred on Donegall Quay, near the AC Marriott hotel, shortly after 1pm on Wednesday.

Police, fire and ambulance crews responded to reports of a gas cannister explosion. At its peak, the operation involved four fire appliances, a turntable ladder, two ambulances, a hazardous area response team and two rapid response vehicles.

One person has been taken to hospital. No further information has been released at this stage.
