Sister Anne McCourt, a member of the Sisters of St Louis and a long-serving educator at St Genevieve's High School in West Belfast, has died aged 93 after a short illness.

McCourt worked as a teacher and leader at the all-girls Catholic school, and she remained involved after her retirement. She also supported the Foodstock charity, which addresses poverty across Belfast. Councillor Paul Doherty highlighted her work helping families in need, particularly during the Christmas period.

A funeral Mass was held at St Agnes' Church, followed by a procession around the grounds of St Genevieve's. Students, staff, and community members lined the route and formed a guard of honour as her coffin was taken on a final circuit of the school.

In a statement, St Genevieve's praised her life of service, saying her kindness, care, and commitment had a lasting impact on generations of pupils and staff. Doherty said she was an incredible woman whose quiet determination made a real difference, and he was heartbroken by her death.
