A parade with 400 participants and six bands is scheduled through Glengormley on Wednesday evening, prompting road closures and diversions.

The event, an Orange district arch opening and Mini Twelfth, will move off at 7.30pm and is expected to conclude by 10pm.

The Parades Commission has notified an outward route starting from Glenvarna Drive, travelling Ballyclare Road, Antrim Road, and Glengormley town centre, before a brief stop at the Antrim Road for the arch opening.

The return route goes through Glengormley town centre, Antrim Road, Church Way, Glebe Road West, Ashgrove Road, Coole Park, Carnmoney Road, Coolehill Park, Queen's Park, Ballyclare Road, back to Glenvarna Drive.

Police said the Ballyclare Road and Antrim Road will be closed to city-bound traffic, with diversions in place.

A PSNI spokesperson stated that an appropriate and proportionate policing operation will be in place, and the public should follow officers' directions.

The spokesperson added: "If you do not plan on attending the parade, please seek an alternative route for your journey to avoid expected delays."
