Gardaí arrest man after body found in Leitrim house near Fermanagh border
Gardaí in County Leitrim have arrested a man after a body was found in a house close to the border with County Fermanagh.
Officers were called to a residential property in the townland of Arderry, County Leitrim, shortly after 9pm on Thursday night.
A man in his 40s was discovered unresponsive at the scene. Emergency services treated him but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the property and is being held at a garda station in County Leitrim.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed in a statement that a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed. Both the local Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.
The body remains at the scene, which is preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. Investigations are ongoing.
