Two public exhibitions will be held in County Derry later this month as part of a proposal to repower the Altahullion wind farm.

The first event takes place at The Diamond Centre in Claudy on Wednesday, June 24, from 4pm to 8pm. The second follows on Thursday, June 25, at Burnfoot Community Centre on the Drumrane Road, also from 4pm to 8pm. An online exhibition will be available from June 24.

Renewable energy firm RES and The Renewables Infrastructure Group are advancing the project. RES has operated the site, located north of Foreglen in the townlands of Drum and Glenconway, for more than 20 years.

Representatives from RES will attend the exhibitions to answer questions, and comment forms will be provided to collect feedback.

The Altahullion I & II Wind Farm was commissioned in 2003 and was at one stage the largest renewable energy complex in Ireland.

The repowering proposal is at a pre-application stage. Any future application would be submitted to the Department for Infrastructure’s Strategic Planning Directorate.
