Omagh Family Fun Day to Support Men’s Health Message
A family fun day is set for Sunday, June 14, at Let’s Go Padel in Omagh, with the twin goals of fundraising and promoting men’s health. The event, organised by Men’s Healthy Minds (MHM) and supported by charity Resilio NI, runs from 12pm to 6pm and welcomes teams of all ages from six upwards.
The fun day ties into Men’s Health Week, observed from June 15 to 21 under the theme One Step at a Time – Progress not Perfection. The campaign, coordinated across Ireland by the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland and backed by the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland, urges men and boys to make small, consistent improvements to their physical and mental wellbeing.
MHM organiser Donal Rowan said the padel event offers a chance for families to have fun together while getting some exercise. He noted that it aligns perfectly with the Men’s Health Week message of taking manageable steps rather than being overwhelmed by ideals of perfection.
All proceeds from the day will go to Resilio NI to fund the MHM support group. The group meets regularly at the Sandwich Co on Market Street in Omagh, providing a relaxed and welcoming environment where men can connect over coffee on the second Sunday of each month.
Bookings for the padel courts can be made by emailing hopematters@resilio-ni.org. The event is a collaboration between MHM, Let’s Go Padel and Carma Coffee.
