Magheraveely Flute Band has cancelled its annual parade scheduled for Saturday evening following the death of William McConkey.

Mr McConkey, of Mountview Drive, Lisnaskea, died on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife Audrey and siblings Marian, Desmond, Leslie, Harry and Brian.

A public gathering for family and friends will take place on Friday from 4pm to 7pm at Dowler’s Funeral Home, 227 Main Street, Lisnaskea. The funeral service is on Saturday at 2.30pm in Lisbellaw Presbyterian Church, with a procession leaving the funeral home at 2pm.

The band said Mr McConkey was a former member who maintained close ties and regularly assisted at band functions and the annual parade. He was also the serving Worshipful Master of Magheraveely Loyal Orange Lodge No. 467.

The band described him as a central presence in the community and stated the parade will be rescheduled for later in the year, subject to arrangements. Condolences were extended to his wife and the wider family circle.
