Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue across Derry and the North West overnight, with Met Éireann warning of possible flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

The meteorological service said frequent, widespread showers, many heavy, would affect the region through the rest of the day. Some thunderstorms are likely, especially in northern areas, bringing the risk of hail.

Breaks of sunshine will occur between showers. Winds will be moderate to fresh and gusty from the southwest, stronger on western and southwestern coasts. Highest temperatures will range from 13 to 18 degrees, warmest in the east.

Tonight will be cloudy with further showers or longer spells of rain. Lowest temperatures will be 9 to 11 degrees, with a moderate to fresh southwest to west wind.
