SuperValu and Centra, the Northern Ireland retail brands of Musgrave, have reached a milestone of 25,000 native trees planted across the region. This follows the most recent sponsorship of an additional 5,000 trees distributed to schools, sports clubs, community organisations, and farms.

The tree planting programme is carried out with Trees on the Land, a not-for-profit project from the Green Economy Foundation. Trees are allocated to both rural and urban areas, supporting the creation of green spaces, natural boundaries, and habitats that protect wildlife and improve soil health.

Maurice Cusack, Head of Retail Marketing for SuperValu and Centra, said the initiative delivers long-term value in the communities the retailers serve and helps schools, clubs, and farmers establish sustainable spaces for future generations.

Imogen Rabone, Project Co-ordinator and founder of Trees on the Land, noted that the partnership is improving biodiversity and air quality while providing natural learning environments and habitats.

The tree planting effort is part of wider sustainability commitments by SuperValu and Centra, which include a goal of planting 50,000 native trees by 2032.
