A woman identified as Complainant A finished giving evidence on Monday at Newry Crown Court in the trial of Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife Lady Eleanor Donaldson.

Sir Jeffrey, 63, faces 18 charges including rape, gross indecency and indecent assault. The charges relate to two alleged victims and cover the period 1985 to 2008. He has pleaded not guilty.

Lady Eleanor Donaldson, from Dublinhill Road, Dromore, Co Down, denies five charges of aiding and abetting. She is facing a trial of the facts after being found unfit for a conventional trial.

Complainant A told the jury she informed Lady Donaldson of an alleged incident in which Sir Jeffrey used a light to examine her private parts. She said Lady Donaldson did nothing after being told.

The witness also said she told Lady Donaldson about an alleged incident in which Sir Jeffrey kissed her and put his tongue in her mouth. She said the matter was laughed off.

Complainant A rejected suggestions from Lady Donaldson's barrister that she was making up her evidence. She said she had nothing to hide and was telling the truth.

The jury heard that Sir Jeffrey was arrested and charged in March 2024. He resigned as DUP leader and was suspended from the party. Complainant B is due to begin giving evidence on Tuesday.
