Police are searching for Gary Anderson, a 29-year-old convicted murderer, who failed to return from day release from Maghaberry prison on Monday, September 14.

Anderson had been serving a 15-year sentence for the murder of Karol Kelly in Derry/Londonderry in March 2018. He was jailed along with his brother Sean Anderson in 2023.

The PSNI has described Anderson as approximately five feet 11 inches tall, of slim build, with brown hair.

In a statement, police appealed directly to Anderson to hand himself in, and asked anyone who knows his whereabouts not to approach him but to contact police on 101, quoting reference 555 of 14/09/26.
