Beragh community honours Armstrong family and Richard Lyons
A reception hosted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council vice chair Shirley Hawkes honoured the Armstrong family for their long-standing role in Beragh.
Council statements noted the family’s ownership of Farley’s pub and their donation of land for Beragh Swifts Football Club.
Mervyn Armstrong was recognised for ongoing work at the club including pitch marking, maintenance and match-day operations.
Clarence Armstrong was cited for playing senior football for the club and participating in the Pride of the Village Flute Band.
Nigel Armstrong was acknowledged for founding the Pride of the Village Flute Band, which marked 40 years in the current year, and for teaching new members.
Richard Lyons was also recognised for nearly 30 years of involvement with Beragh Swifts, including service as player, manager, secretary and chairman since 2008.
The council statements highlighted improvements to facilities, youth development and community links under Lyons’ leadership.
