Councillor Jessica Johnston, Deputy Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, has raised more than £5,500 for two breast cancer charities.

The funds were collected through events held across the borough during her term.

A cheque for £3,000 was given to Pretty ‘n Pink. A further £2,575 was donated to Knitted Knockers.

Johnston said the donations support organisations that provide care and practical help to women and families in Northern Ireland.

She thanked everyone who contributed and expressed hope that the money will assist the charities in continuing their work.

The contributions were made as Johnston prepares to conclude her time in office.
