Volunteers at ECOS Nature Park in Ballymena found vandalism at the children's sensory garden and a storage building on the morning of 25 May.

The damage included a destroyed bee and insect hotel, a children's fort, an upended bench, broken tree branches, and damage to the entrance gate.

Equipment belonging to Ballymena Parkrun was also ransacked and scattered outside the building.

Broken glass was left across grassy areas used by families and visitors.

A further incident the next day saw a willow hedge destroyed.

The Friends of the Ecos group said volunteers have dealt with ongoing anti-social behaviour at the site and called for the issue to be discussed by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed it received a report of criminal damage and appealed to anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting reference 292 25/05/26.
