Environment Minister Andrew Muir met local MLAs, an MP, and the Mayor of Derry and Strabane District Council in Ballykelly to discuss the Mobuoy remediation project.

Muir said the department had reviewed responses from the public consultation and carried out additional technical assessments to improve the draft strategy.

He stated that work will now move toward adoption of the final remediation strategy, including an updated cost estimate, before a formal business case is developed.

Muir said the department remains committed to protecting water quality and addressing environmental risks at the site.

The minister also confirmed he will continue to engage with elected representatives over the summer.

Environmental monitoring at the Mobuoy site is ongoing.
