The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs has released a summary of responses to its public consultation on the draft Remediation Strategy for the Mobuoy site.

Minister Andrew Muir launched the consultation on 13 June 2025. It closed on 2 October 2025. The Northern Ireland Environment Agency developed the draft strategy with contaminated land experts. The strategy outlines integrated solutions to address contamination at the site.

Minister Muir stated that the consultation provided valuable feedback and showed strong support for long-term remediation at Mobuoy. He affirmed commitment to protecting the River Faughan and drinking water in the North West. Muir thanked contributors and those who attended NIEA engagement events.

Muir plans to engage local elected representatives soon to discuss the consultation results and an updated strategy.

NIEA assessed the responses and found no need for changes to the proposed remediation techniques. Some areas required clarification. NIEA is refining these with technical experts for an updated strategy in coming months.

Environmental monitoring continues at the Mobuoy site.
