Northern Ireland is forecast to reach 21C on Friday with temperatures staying in the low to mid 20s over the Bank Holiday weekend.

A Met Office spokesperson said conditions will improve into Saturday with prolonged bright or sunny spells developing after a more unsettled end to the week.

Daytime temperatures are expected to reach low 20C through the weekend with a chance of some light rain in the northwest on Sunday.

Temperatures are likely to edge a little higher into the low to mid 20s Celsius into Bank Holiday Monday though areas nearer coasts will be locally a little lower.

The Met Office said conditions will remain generally settled next week with plenty of dry weather and sunny spells before gradually easing later in the week.

Temperatures are expected to stay above average for the time of year and feel warm at times.
