Temperatures are forecast to rise in Northern Ireland by the end of next week.

Current models indicate highs could reach the low 20s Celsius in some areas by Thursday and Friday.

High pressure is expected to move towards the UK and Ireland from mid-week, bringing warmer conditions overall.

Northern and north-western areas may still see spells of rain and scattered showers.

The Met Office states that a heatwave in Northern Ireland requires temperatures of 25C for at least three consecutive days.

Forecasts do not currently indicate this threshold will be met.

Most places are expected to feel warmer than the May average of 14.8C.
