A former national school building in Beragh is set to be redeveloped as a parish community amenity.

The structure first opened in 1875 and operated as Beragh National School until 1979.

It later housed the local youth club from 1979 until 2016.

A planning application submitted to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council proposes extensions and updates to convert the building for ongoing community use.

The plans include cast iron effect guttering and downpipes along with sliding sash windows to maintain the original architectural character.

The extension is described as modest and subordinate to the existing structure.

The parish also plans roof work on the nearby Church of the Immaculate Conception.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s planning committee will decide on the application.
