Foyle Hospice Event Draws Local Participants in Memory of Family Members
Sinead Griffiths will take part in the Foyle Hospice Female Walk/Run on June 7 alongside her mother and a close friend.
The annual event honours care received by her late sister Charlene, who died nine months after a one-year prognosis.
Griffiths said her sister received care at home from Foyle Hospice Community Nurses, who helped keep her comfortable.
Charlene also attended Day Therapy at the hospice, where she received a massage and had her nails done.
Griffiths noted that a familiar nurse, the mother of Charlene's best friend, provided additional comfort during treatment.
The family has prior experience with the hospice, including support for a cousin and an uncle who both received care.
Griffiths said she will also walk in support of people living with life-limiting illnesses, including her mother who has had dementia for eight years.
