Dungannon Magistrates Court imposed a £200 fine and £15 offender levy on Gerard Coney, 66, from Drumcoo Green in Dungannon, for driving with excess alcohol in breath.

Police received a report of a two-vehicle collision at The Square in Coalisland on July 3 at 8.50pm.

Officers spoke with Coney, driver of one vehicle, and noted an odour of alcohol on his breath.

Coney failed a roadside breath test and was taken to Dungannon custody suite. His evidential reading registered 40 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit stands at 35 microgrammes.

Defence counsel noted the collision was minor and sought credit for Coney's prior clean driving record spanning 45 years.
