New £10 million school construction begins in Glenravel
Education Minister Paul Givan has marked the start of construction on a new school building for Mary Queen of Peace Primary School in Glenravel.
The project, valued at more than £10 million, will provide nine new classrooms and bring the school onto a single site. The school had previously operated across separate locations.
Construction work began in March 2026 and is scheduled for completion in July 2027.
Givan said the investment will support teaching and learning and deliver lasting benefits for the community.
Principal Malachy Conlon described the start of construction as a momentous occasion resulting from years of planning and teamwork.
The school is expected to serve up to 250 pupils once complete.
Separately, the Department of Education has opened applications for schools to host Research-Informed Conferences in the 2026-27 academic year.
