Ards and North Down Borough Council has obtained ring-fenced Peaceplus funding for ANDepic, a community theatre production. The project invites residents to participate and plans to premiere in March 2027.

SDLP councillor Joe Boyle, chair of the council's Peaceplus Partnership scheme, stated the funding supports people, participation and place. He noted the arts foster connections, skill development and lasting shared experiences.

The production involves intercultural artists and local performers. It takes inspiration from Homer's The Odyssey and adopts a co-designed format shaped by borough residents and their stories.

Andrea Montgomery, artistic director of Terra Nova, said the project engages people of all ages and backgrounds to create a performance that captures the area's diversity and global links. She highlighted shared authorship between professionals and participants.

Residents will contribute to writing, costumes, stage design, acting and technical elements. Organisers will meet community groups to gather input for authentic narratives.

Peaceplus funding comes from the EU for initiatives in border counties and communities. People interested in joining can visit the Terra Nova Productions website or follow their social media.
