Causeway Coast and Glens Council approved a motion to organise a community event in Coleraine town centre to mark Coleraine FC's Irish Cup victory. The team defeated Dungannon Swifts on May 2 to claim the trophy for the seventh time.

DUP Alderman Mark Fielding proposed the motion at the council's May meeting. It called for recognition of the club's league runner-up position and cup final appearance. The proposal sought partnership with local representatives, community groups, and businesses for a Saturday afternoon event to boost town centre footfall.

The motion also requested a formal letter from the council to Coleraine FC commending their performance and representation of the borough.

DUP Councillor Tanya Elder seconded the motion. She noted the club's success fostered community spirit and pride across the borough.

Council members voted unanimously in favour of the motion.
