Brandon Lee Balmer, 22, from the Larne area, admitted charges of possessing cannabis, diazepam and zopiclone at Ballymena Magistrates Court. The drug charges relate to April 2 this year.

Balmer will contest a charge of possessing a knife in a public place without good reason or lawful authority. His defence solicitor stated the knife formed part of a knife and fork set for eating lunch at work.

The case adjourned to May 21 for fixing a date to contest the knife charge.
