Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald finished a visit to Washington and Maryland. She joined Invest NI in leading a delegation of six Northern Ireland businesses at the SelectUSA Investment Summit. The event focused on foreign direct investment opportunities in the US.

The companies included Adepta Partners Ltd, EPAS Ltd, Fast Technologies Ltd, NHL Cylinders, O&S Doors Ltd, and Smiley Monroe Ltd. They explored options for manufacturing partnerships, sales operations, and investment growth in the American market.

Minister Archibald noted that engagements at the summit allowed local firms to pursue new partnerships and expansion. She emphasized Northern Ireland's offerings of innovation, skilled workers, and reliable collaborations for global growth.

Goods exports from Northern Ireland to the US hit £1.4bn in 2025. Demand remains high in fintech, advanced manufacturing, and life and health sciences, providing access to over 330 million consumers.

The delegation met with Peter Burke TD and US political and business leaders to build economic links. They also discussed tourism potential for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with the US Semiquincentennial Commission.

Minister Archibald pointed out the US market's role in Northern Ireland tourism and opportunities tied to shared heritage links.

Chris Monroe, CEO of Smiley Monroe Ltd, described benefits from their Kentucky site. He said it provides customer flexibility, aids relationship building, supports local procurement needs, and boosts the global brand. This led to a 25% rise in new Northern Ireland customers since opening in 2020.

Moira Loughran, Head of Exports at Invest Northern Ireland, said the summit offered insights into US market entry challenges and strategies. This helps firms overcome barriers and supports scaling exports.
